A visit to the Rice Plantation and more

Well, it's been awhile since I have blogged.  We are having fun but haven't really done a lot.  The weather here has been cold so haven't done near as much as we have in the past.
A small group of us went out for lunch at one of our favorite spots and then....
on to the Crystal Rice plantation in Crowley, LA where we learned about the rice and crawfish business that has been going on for a very long time.
The family has an old car collection (original condition) including a lot of old Mercedes.
Loved this little 3 wheel vehicle designed like an airplane
 Old pedal car
Old us!
One of the women wanted to start a museum and moved this Cajun home to the property and filled it with beautiful period antiques.  They named it Blue Rose Plantation as well as the new rice that Salmon Wright developed.

 Loved this different chandelier
Of course Super Bowl.......where most were rooting for the Broncos, while a few of us were Seahawk fans.  When the game got out of hand even the Seahawk fans joined the poor Bronco fans and put on their rally caps!
Before the game......
Ok.....yes it HAS been cold as you can see.  This is mid day and really does NOT show how much ice there really was.  We are jealous of our CA folks but know they have their problems with drought and fire.

We had a crazy Karaoke night with a few of us.  It has actually been the only music we have had here this year.  We really miss that.
We are looking forward to a good Mardi Gras and hope the weather warms up a little.
